Surprised to know that your skin undertone will tell you Your Colour? Well, Yes! The first and foremost step in assessing what colours would suit you is determining your skin undertone. Don’t get alarmed with this fashion industry jargon ‘skin undertone’. Your skin undertone is nothing but hue that comes through the skin from underneath its surface. If your complexion has more blue, pink and red hues then your undertone as ‘cool’. Yellow, peach and golden hues, are considered ‘warm’. Those who do not have cool or warm undertones are said to have ‘neutral’ undertones. Too tricky to understand? Don’ worry! Just quickly roll up those sleeves and get ready for your Skin Tone Test. Now simply check the colour of your veins in your hand. ” Is it purple or blueish? That implies your undertone is cool. Is it green? Then your skin undertone is warm. If you do not have a specific colour dominating your veins then your skin tone is neutral ! “

Once you’ve figured out you skin tone there you are ready to start shopping. Buy clothes that will compliment your skin tone. The thumb rule for colours is pick up warm colours for a warm undertone and cool colours for cool-toned complexions. For example, in the green colour family, olive colour would make a warm Indian girl’s skin tone glow, while turquoise will suit girl with a cool skin undertone.

For warm colour turn to red, peach, coral, orange, amber, gold, and yellow, live, moss, orchid, and violet-red. So don’t forget to try that dress which caught your eye in the showroom, at home before you dump it in a corner and disregard it as a favourite.

Warm skin toned people should avoid icy blues or jewel tones like sapphire or amethyst because they can make your skin look greyish. Whereas cool skin toned people should avoid orange, tomato red, and strong yellows, which clash with your skin tone completely.
